Industrialisation Engineer F/M
About Exotrail 🚀
Born from a strong ambition to reach for the stars, Exotrail is a fast-growing scale-up founded in 2017. Its mission: to develop and commercialize propulsion systems for small satellites on a global scale.
We design products focused on impact, fast delivery, and continuous improvement. Inspired by the digital world, we are firmly customer-oriented and driven by an entrepreneurial spirit.
We manage risks to push boundaries and achieve results that would not be possible within a traditional space model.
We deploy every necessary resource to support the development of our products, whether in propulsion or in-orbit services. Strengthened by an innovative mindset inherited from our early days, we are preparing to grow into an ambitious industrial company.
Job Description 👨💻
We are looking for a Senior Industrialisation Engineer at our Massy site.
You will join the AIT department of our In-Orbit Services Business Unit at a pivotal moment: we are structuring and industrialising our production line to support the upcoming multi-satellite ramp-up. Your mission is to build the industrial capability that makes this ramp-up possible; define work packages, qualify processes, standardise methods and anticipate capacity needs before the production team requires them. This role could evolve into a Team Lead position in the future.
Beyond technical skills, we are looking for someone who can structure, industrialise and anticipate, rigorous in execution and documentation, equally at ease in co-engineering with Design teams and in direct interface with Production AIT teams on the floor.
Your main tasks and responsibilities will be:
📌 Define and deploy AIT industrial strategy: Define production flows, standard integration sequences and test strategy. Work in co-engineering with Design teams from concept phase (DFMA, DFM, DFA, DFT) to align product design with production constraints. Identify industrial risks and define associated action plans.
📌 Qualify processes and deploy methods: Qualify critical assembly, integration and test processes (PFMEA, control plan). Write, validate and maintain standardised work packages and procedures reusable across missions. Specify and deploy production equipment with the Production AIT team (GSE, tooling, workstations, ergonomics, safety).
📌 Build the capacity roadmap: Define and maintain the medium- and long-term industrial capacity roadmap, anticipate resource, GSE and infrastructure needs ahead of programme milestones, to allow the AIT Manager to manage mission scheduling optimally. Contribute to CAPEX/OPEX budget management for the department.
📌 Lead industrialisation projects: Lead industrialisation activities end-to-end (milestones, deliverables, risks, costs). Coordinate with Supply Chain on long-lead component procurement logic and stock management, long-lead components and replenishment thresholds. Ensure industrial transfer from prototype to series while guaranteeing logistical continuity.
📌 Continuous improvement and evolution towards management: Capture and integrate field lessons learned from AIT Engineers to drive improvement of work packages and procedures. Coordinate industrial synergies with the spaceware™ department. In due course, structure, recruit, manage and develop the Industrialisation & Methods team.
Preferred Experience 💁♀️
📌 Education: engineering degree (Bac+5) in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, electronics or equivalent technical field.
📌 Experience: 7+ years in industrialisation, methods or production engineering in the space, aerospace, defence or automotive industry. Direct experience of production ramp-up (prototype to series) is mandatory.
📌 Tools proficiency:
o Industrialisation and methods: Lean Manufacturing, VSM, Standard Work, line balancing, PFMEA, control plan, DFMA, APQP/PPAP, FAI.
o Industrial quality: 8D, QRQC, Ishikawa, 5 Why, SPC, MSA/Gage R&R.
o Project management: MS Project, Jira or equivalent.
o PLM and ERP: 3DExperience or equivalent, Odoo or equivalent, MES/eDHR appreciated.
o Industrial performance: Advanced Excel, Power BI or equivalent for capacity planning and KPI dashboards.
o GSE/maintenance/metrology: CMMS tools or ERP maintenance module appreciated.
o CAD/CAM: SolidWorks, Inventor, Catia or equivalent appreciated.
📌 Knowledge:
o Satellite system architecture and AIT processes (assembly, integration, functional and environmental testing).
o Prototype to series transition and industrial ramp-up: process qualification, FAI, industrial validation, configuration management.
o Capacity planning, line balancing, takt time, material flow and stock management, long-lead components and replenishment thresholds.
o Maintenance, calibration and lifecycle management of tooling and GSE.
o Standards and frameworks: ECSS, EN9100/AS9100, AS9102, AS9103, AS9145, ISO 9001, MRL, Aero Excellence.
• Leadership: you have already managed a small team or led cross-functional projects, and are ready to structure and grow an entire pole during the ramp-up. The ability to recruit and develop technical profiles is an explicit requirement of this role.
• Soft skills: ability to structure and industrialise in an evolving environment; rigour, reactivity, organisational skills; anticipation and proactivity.
📌Fluent in French and English (clear technical communication).
