Internship: Flight software development on satellite onboard computer (F/M)

Exotrail is continuing its journey by expanding its in-orbit services with offers such as rendezvous operations, refueling, in-space transportation, end-of-life management. In this context, we are already preparing the next generation of our spacevan™ vehicle.
To support this growth, we are looking for a motivated and talented individual to join our Flight Software Department as a Trainee in our headquarters in Massy. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in embedded software development, working alongside experienced engineers on a real project.
Key responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Flight Software Team.
- Decide on a shortlist of candidate application frameworks (NASA cFS, NASA F Prime, others).
- Analyze and benchmark the selected frameworks and decide on the most adequate framework.
- Port the framework of choice on one of our onboard computers.
- Integrate some Exotrail flight software components in the framework of choice.
- Demonstrate the concept to our team of engineers.

Preferred Experience 💁♀️
To complete this internship, Exotrail is looking for an engineer pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Space Engineering.
Interest or previous experience in the following areas are necessary:
- Strong familiarity with embedded systems concepts and programming languages such as C/C++.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with embedded software development tools (e.g., compilers, debuggers).
- Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C, CAN).
- Spacecraft system engineering is a plus.
